There are some places you dream about long before you ever see them.
For us, Tokyo Disneyland was one of those places.
Before visiting Japan, we had watched videos, read blogs, and seen countless photos. Like many families, we were excited but also slightly overwhelmed. Was it worth the cost? Which rides should we prioritize? Could younger children enjoy it? Was one day enough?
Now that we've experienced it ourselves, I can confidently say this:
Tokyo Disneyland became one of the most magical memories from our Japan trip.
From the moment we entered the park, there was excitement everywhere. Families dressed in Disney-themed outfits, music playing throughout the streets, the beautiful castle in the distance, and an atmosphere that somehow makes both children and adults feel like kids again.

How We Booked Our Tokyo Disneyland Tickets
We booked our tickets through Klook just one day before visiting.
The process was incredibly easy and our tickets were delivered digitally, meaning we didn't have to worry about ticket counters or long queues.

How We Reached Tokyo Disneyland From Ueno
One thing that surprised us about Japan was how easy public transportation was.
We were staying near Ueno Station and used the train to reach Tokyo Disneyland.
Simply take the train towards Maihama Station, which serves Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea.
The journey was comfortable, family-friendly, and very straightforward.
As soon as you arrive at Maihama Station, you'll start seeing Disney signs, Disney merchandise stores, excited families, and the atmosphere begins immediately.
Even after spending an entire day at Disneyland, we comfortably returned to Ueno by train.
If you're staying anywhere around Ueno, Asakusa, or central Tokyo, using the train is by far the easiest option.
Disneyland or DisneySea? Our Honest Experience
Originally, we planned to visit both Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea.
Like many families visiting Japan for the first time, we thought we could comfortably do one park and then visit the other shortly afterward. Reality was different. Tokyo Disneyland is a full day experience.
By the time we finished, our feet were exhausted, the summer heat had taken its toll, and the kids were completely tired.
In fact, we had planned to visit DisneySea as well but eventually decided against it because everyone needed rest.
Looking back, I think we made the right decision.
If you're traveling with younger children, I would suggest either:

Staying at a Disney Resort or nearby hotel if you want to visit both parks

Or choosing one park and enjoying it properly
Trying to squeeze both into a busy Tokyo itinerary can become exhausting.
For families with younger children, Tokyo Disneyland is usually the better choice because it has the classic Disney atmosphere, family-friendly attractions, characters, parades, and that magical Disney feeling most people imagine.

We used it throughout the day.
Instead of walking across the park blindly, we could instantly see wait times and decide where to go next.
For first-time visitors, the app makes the entire experience significantly easier.
Is There A Skip-The-Line Ticket?
This confused us before our visit, so let me simplify it.
Tokyo Disneyland does NOT offer a universal skip-the-line pass for all rides.
Instead, certain attractions offer something called Disney Premier Access.
This is purchased through the Disney App and works on specific rides only.
We paid extra for Premier Access on Beauty and the Beast. And honestly?
It was worth every yen. The ride is one of the most popular attractions in the park and queues can become extremely long.
Purchasing Premier Access allowed us to enjoy the attraction with minimal waiting.
If you're visiting during a busy season, I recommend budgeting for at least one or two Premier Access rides.
The Ride We Still Talk About: Beauty and the Beast
Out of everything we experienced at Tokyo Disneyland, Beauty and the Beast was our favorite.
The technology. The music. The storytelling. The ride system. Everything about it felt magical. Even if you're not a huge Disney fan, this attraction is genuinely impressive.
If there is one ride I would prioritize above all others, it's this one.
And yes, this is the attraction where I would happily pay for Premier Access again.
The Nighttime Parade Was Pure Magic
If you're tired by evening and considering leaving early, don't.
Stay. Trust me. The nighttime parade became one of our favorite memories from the entire Japan trip. After the fireworks, the atmosphere transformed completely.
Elsa. Mickey. Disney Princesses. Beautiful floats. Music. Lights.
Characters everyone knows and loves. Children were cheering. Adults were filming.
And somehow everyone around us seemed completely immersed in the moment.
Months later, when we think back to Tokyo Disneyland, this is one of the first memories that comes to mind. It was pure Disney magic.

Absolutely.
If I could only choose one major theme park experience during our Japan trip, Tokyo Disneyland would still be near the top of the list.
The Beauty and the Beast attraction amazed us.
The nighttime parade felt magical.
The Disney atmosphere was unforgettable.
And watching families from around the world experience the same excitement reminded us why Disney continues to be loved across generations.
More than the rides, what stayed with us was the feeling.
For one day, the worries of everyday life disappeared and we simply enjoyed being together, making memories.
